Just joined to today! The amount of info on this forum is awesome.
I have a 31' Fountain TE with twin 225 Optis. Boat's name is Bam Bam. It's a knickname I've "acquired" b/c I tend to break everything I touch.
Right now I am running 14.25 x 21 Turbo Props. I had 14x 23 offshore series but the 21's have helped me get the rpms up, better cruise and better lift. I am looking for a RH Rev 4 21 (got the LH already). I noticed the blades on the Rev 4 are huge compared to the Turbos.
How does labbing affect the Rev 4s? Is it to remove the cupping? I guess I need to try a stock pair first anyway. Right now, I run 58mph WOT with 3 fat guys 2/3 fuel and gear.
Thanks

you will probably loose some RPM with the Rev 21s, the Revs are a very heavy prop for there size so they are significanytly lightened during labbing

The offshore series are 4 blades.
The Rev 4s have more blade surface and cup than the Turbos. Once I can get my hands on a RH Rev it will be interesting to see the difference.

DO YOU HAVE JACKPLATES OR TRANSOM BRKT OF SOME SORT?
ARE THE MOTORS BURIED DEEP ?
IF YOU CAN GET THE MOTORS UP A LITTLE (ONE HOLE) IT MAY HELP SOME, HARD TO SAY WITHOUT A LITTLE MORE INFO.....
WHAT RPM ARE YOU GETTING WITH THE TURBOS AND CURRENT SETUP?
AND RPM WITH THE OFFSHORE SERIES?
IF THE REV 4 BLADES ROB SOME RPM ....
1. RAISE THE MOTORS "IF YOU CAN"
2. GO ON A DIET "BOAT" " 3-FAT GUYS" "GEAR";)
3. HAVE THE PROPS THINNED AND BALANCED "LAB FINISHED"
COULD SEE AS MUCH AS 200 RPM FROM THIS.
COULD DO THE SAME WITH THE OFFSHORE SERIES PROPS IF THEY AINT TO BANGED UP OR WELL USED.
A GOOD MATCHED PAIR OF BLADES DIALED IN BY A GOOD PROP GUY IS PRICELESS!!!
BE SURE TO TEST THE PROPS AS CLOSE TO THE SAME CONDITIONS YOU RUN NORMALLY SO YOU GET AN ACCURATE RESULT.
WHAT IS MAX RPM FOR THE OPTI MOTORS ????
I WOULD WANT TO BE RITE @ THE LIMITER WITH A LIGHT LOAD AND LOW FUEL SO WHEN YOU GET HER LOADED DOWN SHE'LL STILL BE IN THE CORRECT OPERATING RANGE EX: 5800-6200 OR WHATEVER IT IS FOR THE OPTI'S.

The Rev limiters kick in at 5750 for these motors. I havent been able to run light in a while since I top off each time. The Turbos are doing well but I want to see if the Rev 4s perform better and I want a spare pair of props anyway. I should be able to hit about 5700 with the Turbos real light and trimmed out.
The offshore series (Vensura) props I had were labbed but the diameter was a little small. The Turbos lift the boat much better. The engine height is right, I just want the best performing 4 blades for this set up. I know the Rev 4 might drop my RPMs a little so maybe labbed is the way to go. Right now I have an unlabbed LH and am looking for a RH.
The only dieting my fat ass crew and I do is to drink light beer.
