Sportmaster propshaft is "tight"?

Had this sporty for a while, but just put a new bearing carrier in it - brand new out of the box. Fresh hi-perf gear lube. Took it out today, ran great, no leaks, looks good, but when I took the prop off, the propshaft seems quite a bit harder to turn than normal. No shifting problems and it turns free in neutral (no clutch dog engagement at all).

Anyone else seen this before? Just hate to lose the lube and take it all back apart for nothing.

Keith whenever i've replaced the prop shaft seals in one of my gearcases they seem a lot tighter for a while. that's not saying that there might not be a problem, just the new seals will tighten them up some.
