Well they should have considered where the money would be spent in a multinational company besides Ford has moneymaking factories there.
Instead of Public servants in DC we are the servants.

I brought this same matter up in a bailout thread some months back and some pro bailout knitwit on here basically said what was good for GM was good for the U.S. and it didn't matter where the money went.
As for Ford:
Ford does not need government loans: CEO (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090125/bs_nm/us_ford_mulally)

GM's most profitable markets right now are not necessarily in the US. I'm currently working on a program that will ship all of the parts of a vehicle to brazil to be assembled.
The parts are designed here, engineered here, and the people working on the program sit here in detroit. Once the parts are manufactured and assembled (here) the parts are shipped to brazil to be assembled in brazil and the vehicle sold in brazil. The money still flows back to detroit.
How is that any different then toyota assembling and designing parts in Japan and then shipping them here to build a vehicle?
It's actually good news for "us" that GM is selling vehicles and making money. It doesn't take american jobs away, it actually retains some. (not all of course)
Steve1, I do agree that I would rather see the bailout money get invested domestically of course, I was not all for the bailout in general. I am a "slaphappy" supporter of the Big Three because I feel the domestic manufacturing sector needs to be preserved and improved.
I keep hearing about Obama's stimulus plans and wish he'd work on some incentives to bring manufacturing back to the states as well as his plans to increase new technology here in the states.
