These are the rings that come standard on the forged top-pin MAHLE's. Was wondering if anyone has any info on these, cyl. wear, ring life. etc
.Their an alt to the merc gold rings.

I know of two 260's that used the ceramic rings and bore life was about 5 hours before they were scored.

I'm Confused:
WHY would you buy a brand of piston that a ring was NLA for your bore surface application and have to be STUCK buying the SILLY high $$ Mercury brand ring .(When and IF they are available and not Back Ordered) When you can buy Wizards and be done with it......With replacement rings for rebuilds available 24/7 and are 1/2 price of the Mercury rings..
just my observation,
Jay

i agree!! its ridiculous, also, i don't understand how i can buy a premium set of je pistons for a v8 for under 600, yet the merc pistons for 6 are 1290?? maybe because they don't produce as many for the outboards as they do for the car engines? i'm half thinking of sending a piston to je and ross and see what they would charge to produce it

Charlie,
I know of others that went to Aries years ago and they WERE cheaper as Aries had no problem making the blank for a bargin basement price , BUT cutting the ports, the keystone ring lan , furnishing a ring and the locater pin that had to be done and or furnished by the customer is what makes these "deals" not so attractive when ALL is known...Chevy pistons and their ring configuration is a pretty straight forward process the other things I mentioned that have to be taken in to consideration building 2 cycle pistons throws a "fly in the ointment" so to speak and effects the drive out ready to install price through the roof unless you buying 1000 units...
have a better 09,
Jay

Will the gold rings work on these pistons?

The Mercury top pinned high performance Weisco, the side as well as top pinned Mahle used to all use the same ring ...I haven't ran a Mercury High Performance Weiscos OR Mahle piston in years, maybe else will post for sure...
Good luck,
Jay
