Look at the MSDS to figure out what you get for the money.

Some "BATCH" refinery makes this oil to a particular spec for these folks . AS Golden Spectro doe the Mercury oils.. AS Markus posted check the specs and see if its near or the same as Mercury or something you are happy with. If its near or the same price as the Mercury I'd run the real meal deal...

No. The Merc oil is a synthetic blend and the Quicksilver is not (as pictured). Quicksilver brand does have a synthetic blend though. Mercury owns the Quicksilver brand name.

It makes no sense to me why Mercury (Quicksilver) would use the same name (Premium Plus) for oil that contains different properties.

Very tricky if you ask me.

Thanks for the info.

I think you missed what I was trying to say. While they both say Premium Plus. One says Synthetic Blend (Mercury) and The Quicksilver says nothing about being a synthetic blend. I have a gallon of Quick Silver that says Synthetic Blend. Mercury/Quicksilver makes several types of oils. So there should be nothing tricky as long as you read the lableing.

They stated that Premium Plus (regardless of what the front label has on it) is a Synthetic Blend. It doesn't matter if it is Merc or QS.

Apparently, if you read the back label of the QS, it is stated that it is a Synthetic Blend even if the front label isn't advertising it.

This is important to me because if I forget to get oil Mon-Sat and want to go out on Sunday the only place open is Wal-Mart/Pro Shop. Now I can pick up a gallon of the Quicksilver.

Sorry to get this thread off-topic JP.:o

OK, let me see if I can make this a little more more confusing..

Seeing as there are Mercury/Quicksilver Premium Plus blends available, how close are they to Merc's Hi-Perf blend??

Being new to Outboards this year,I went thru this Oil choice thing, settled on Pennzoil Synthetic. If it works out, fine,if not strap on a 4/stroke i guess.Right now this STV is a kick.
