Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and love all the information I've read so far. My question is on a project boat I'm going to be starting with my father. He had a boat business for about 10 years and has lots of leftover boats and parts. I've got my eye on a mid 80's Laser bass boat. It's brand new, never been rigged. Unfortunately, it spent most of it's life outdoors under a cover but it's still in decent shape. I don't know the specific model or capacities as it's in storage right now and we're looking for the documentation. I believe it's rated for a 150. Would you advise on a hydraulic plate? How about steering? With the limited information I've provided, what do you know about these boats? I'll be rigging it for fishing but from what I've researched, it'll be a fast hull when I want to have some fun. Thanks for any advice.

Sure hydraulic jack plate and steering would be nice, but it is not necassary.

is a LTV bass drag or full out bass trolling motor and all that nonsence?

Outside all those years? Check the floor, transom, and core for rot. It may look good on the outside but still be rotten.

I think that was the history of Greg's Stream. Never used, but needed restoring anyway.

It's a full on bass boat. He's got other go-fast only boats but I want to use this one as a dual purpose with an emphasis on fishing. David, before we put it inside 5 years ago we checked it out pretty thoroughly and didn't find any rot, just a few field mice in one of the storage compartments. I'll post some pics soon.

So is it a V bottom or a LTV Bassboat? My dad used to have a older Lazer V bottom Bassboat with a slightly modified 175 i think? it would push high 80's.

I think it is a V but I'm not sure. The boat is in storage and can't find the original paperwork. We're making room for it in my dad's garage right now. He doesn't remember what specific model it is either. Maybe when I post a pic someone can help identify it.
BTW Little Jon, is that a Cobra clone?
