Hi,
I am thinking of buying a Vector in Dallas. I have everything set up to get it to Massachussetts but want to make sure floor and transom are good, just the usual minor stress cracks. Boat has V-6 235 GT Johnson on a jack plate, it looks clean but still....as you know Vectors were for the smaller motors not V-6's. I'll switch to an inline on the transom when I get it and sell the Johnson. Can anyone help? I don't want a project, I want to find a clean one to remake the combination I had many years ago. Seller suggested I send someone over to look, it's at a U-Haul yard becasue he lives in a condo, he'll let you in to look.
Thanks!
Randy

Russ Rogers is in Dallas you might talk to him. I don't know if he comes here but know he is on the Byuboyz alot of the time. He is pretty good guy and knows a bunch about old boats. He is the only one I could think of that might be able to help you. Now if you was talking about Houston there is a bunch of us here.:)

That's it, have you seen it in person? I talked to the guy he bought it from, it was Ok when he sold it, just want to make sure transom is OK with the V-6 Vectors were for inlines and V-4's

Be sure the core is good. Do a search here regarding Hydrostream core problems. Most need the core replaced. I'd hate to see ya go to all the trouble just to have to replace the core. Kindest Regards. Smitty.

I haven't seen the boat but a buddy looked at it and said it was clean. He owns a boat shop so he would've noticed any rot or problems.

Good luck with it,
Ronnie

Thanks Fred, You are my hero!
Give me a call, so I can give you an idea of what to look for. I'm trying ot avoid what happened to this guy..! There are a few simple questions to ask and to look at. If he has left any water standing in the boat then it's death. Original owner kept it dry in a garage but two years of new ownercan be bad bad bad.
