To everyone viewing the pictures of our weekend,
Laker broke his ENTIRE skeg off 5 minutes into the day. He still boated all day. I believe as fast as 60 mph. How is that for a up yours, I'm going boating no matter what attitude.

Thanks Chris now that Balzy has sold his garage queen and isn't there to point out the seaweed trailing behind my trailer it looks better. :D After seeing pictures of my boat I have given up thoughts of ever selling her and instead will redouble my efforts to bring her back to her original shape. Hi Duke,

My wife's siblings put on a 50th wedding anniversary for their parents on the week/weekend we used to go to Rockfest about 3 or 4 years ago. You know how it goes, once we broke with tradition we haven't been back to Wissota since. Shame really as that is one beautiful lake. The year right after the party I was in a new job (third in two years - long story but all jobs were voluntary so nothing too terrible) so I didn't want to take a week off during the busy season. The next year we didn't like any of the bands and the year after that Vicki was on a bike trip (now she is perpetually on a bike trip - pedal type not Harley).

Craig, I missed my Dads and Kids camping weekend this year for the first time since 1992 (due to getting our extra house ready for renting). Once again it is difficult to say whether once that tradition was broken whether I'll go back to it or not (Three Lakes would sure be fun).

I still plan on heading up to Mischicot this weekend so I might get over Waupaca way I don't know. The weather doesn't look like it will be cooperating on Saturday though and I'm not going to drag the HST up there unless I'll be able to use it. I am planning on Tishigan again this Sunday. Thumper showed but didn't get into a boat. I don't think he likes riding in other peolpe's boats which I can understand. Blue Bayou has been sitting so long the glass must just about be fully deteriorated (he's worse than me). I hope I can get him to start cutting into some fiberglass to recore that beast this winter or spring.

Hydrostreamvking4m thanks for the compliment I really appreciate it and when I see my boat I fall in love with it all over again. I was telling Sean that all that was missing last weekend was a Vking and a Vector (I couldn't believe there wasn't one there). Sean said, don't worry one is on the way. Both your boat and the Viper were beautiful examples of that classic Hydrostream look. I especially liked that little Viper, what a cherry find I know you'll get the motor straightened out and that will be a blast for them next year (or is that next weekend) :D

Thanks for the gratitude everyone, but this could not have happened without everyones participation and help. When we thought of this, our goal was to meet new people with Hydrostreams in common and see new lakes. Well it certainly has exceeded our expectations to say the least. What a great group of people! We have managed to bring friends together both new and old and had one great time after another. Hopefully we can continue to get together on a monthly basis until we are back on the water again in spring. If anyone has any ideas, let us know. We will have a VIP party at our house in Dec. so stay tuned. At that time we will be discussing how to improve this and getting more of you involved. We will pick a date soon as to not interfere with any holiday plans. Perhaps get together at a few other places after that.

Just so everyone is aware, we are not getting soft on keeping it Hydrostream only. The last few weeks have just been general get togethers where anyone with stones big enough to brave the cold shows up. We have future hydrostream owning friends getting a taste of what this is like :D Sunday is "take back the lake" and is also not a Hydrostream get together........... well............ however, we plan to show up as a group and "represent" All meeting at Seans beforehand and coming onto the lake as one unit. So far, it looks to be a large turnout.

Please be advised that there will be a couple random giveaways at Sean and Beckys place afterwards as a little incentive to show up and a way to "spread the wealth" of some of the nice things I have recieved for this thread from Greg. Hopefully his giveaway package comes this week :)

Performance outboard guys are few and far between and there is definately strength in numbers. For the most part I think we as a group are the most fun, caring group of people. Without Scream and Fly as a conduit I'm not sure I would have anyone to ride with and probably would not have met any of you. There is no question that my life is better having met and being able to hang out with you all.

Mark's thread has helped me reflect on the time we had at Three Lakes where I got to meet a bunch of you. I was hoping to do it again at Kosh, but most everyone was broken. :nonod:

It's a big effort for us to go that far for a weekend but damn it was worth it. Because of this thread the TLS is going to be a monster next year. This leads me to an idea I've been having:

How about we get ALL of the Streams we can in one place, possibly in one of the smaller, calmer lakes on that chain. Get the cops to close it for an hour and raft all of the Streams together. Arrange for a low and slow aircraft and get a photographer (Janna?) to shoot from the air. Jim has a plane but it is a crazy fast one. He must have a bud that has a Cub or something similar.

Imaging having a print of that on your office wall? :thumbsup:

I wouldn't feel envious you ended up with a very nice STV, there are a lot of people who dream of having a boat like yours. I vasilate between replacing the HST due to limited cockpit room but I love the look of the HST and the ride cannot be beat.

I remember riding around in Thumpers Vector when I still had my loud slow jetboat (which was still fun and cool looking) thinking to myself, driving one of these contraptions is too much like work. I asked him what he though a good boat would be for a guy who just wanted to stab the throttle, go fast and maybe even enjoy a cocktail without worrying about scattering themselves to the winds. His friendship with Balzy and Steve Anderson led him to suggest an HST and there was one for sale up in Merrill WI (or somewhere close).

Three motors later and lots of projects to improve (set back brackets, jackplates, new interior, new guages, hydraulic steering, new gas tank, and on and on) I think I have something that is getting close to be right (still plenty to do).

I would also like to thank Greg as none of us would likely know each other without this site. Greg is an amazing guy, I still haven't figured out how a guy has all these hobbies (high performance boats, high performance cars, bmx bike racing, photography, guitar, and on and on) and is better than me at any of the one's we have in common (and he has twice as many or more). :eek:

Ok guys fair enough. I can see that there are people on here that just want to ruin it for whatever reason.

We should all just ignore the nonsense and move on. They have demonstrated repeatedly that they have nothing positive to contribute to this, so like we stated from the beginning, these people will not be included in the future simple as that.

It is kinda sad in a way because these guys have nice boats and could have been a part of the fun.

Thanks. That picture was taken on Legend Lake near Shawano. My Dad worked at Eliminator in Shawano designing boats and managing the dealer network. That boat had the new bottom on it and eventually became the plug for the Rapid Craft Riot. It was an Eliminator Scorpion with a stock 225 Johnson on it that I ran in ModVP. It would run about 98MPH on top end and go through ANY kind of water. I don't know about tomorrow....hadn't planned on it. Probably won't bring the AlliShot though...

My old Stream is a YT just like yours. My advise to all YT owners it to have 12" of setback...it really helps!! I also had after planes on mine. It extended the tunnel and seemed to make the boat handle a lot better over 100mph.

And thats great info.I also have been tring so many differant set ups and just cant get the boat to run as i think it should.And after many hours on screamandfly and reading i have come to the set back as being what i need to add to get the yt to fly.
8 inch is what most are useing but 12 is what i thought would be correct.

This has been in my plans for the winter.But thought id look for a 7 inch set back plate and use my 5 inch cmc power plate. Giving the 12 inch needed.
Can you share info on the props you used and gear case(stock bobs or cle or?) and what gears.

Back in the late 80's when I was running my Bridgeport the boat would run 102 on the speedo when the motor was fresh. When the motor started to get tired I was down to about 98 so I slapped a hydraulic jack plate onto the back of a manual to get 12" of set back and I was right back at 101 without touching the motor. To me the boat felt a lot lighter and more nimble with the extra set back. My friend with the blue and black YT with the OMC on it did the same thing and he picked up a few mph also.

I always ran a 30P cleaver on my YT. YT's have a lot of hull in the water and the cleaver gives you good tail lift. Take a string and wrap it around your boat. You will find that the sponsons are a bit deeper than your pad. Opposite of what you would think. It takes a lot of power and a good tail lifting prop to get a YT to run really fast.

I ran stock CLE's and CLE's with a Bob's nosecone. Both worked the same. I was running a Sporty on that 15" motor. 1.87 gears

What motor is under that 260 hood?

This is the info ive been looking for for along time.
Ive tryed so many differant things in set up with no good out come.

The first was a cle(1.87)gears. with ally plate and 5 inch set back and it would run and get so out of shape at 60.

Then was a cle(1.87)gears without the ally plate and same out come.It would pull so hard on the wheel and no fly

Then i went to a stock 2.1 gear case with bobs cone and no plate and it would run into the high 80's.But still would not fly the bow and would pull hard on the wheel.

Right now im running my friends 1.87 case with bobs cone and torch tab
with a 4 blade mazco 6950 26 pitch spining 7000 rpms no gps in the boat so not pos on speed.
And if i drop the motor deep it will lift the bow and pack air and seems to fly ok but without the seat time i haven't pushed it to see the speed

And im running a 2.4 mod vp powerhead under the 260 hood with soft heads so im able to run the 93 oct gas over the 110 oct.

I have to also ask.Does it hurt anything mountting the 2 plates together as you did on your yt.And i can see the trim trab working at low speed However dont understand how it can help the boat on top speeds.

What is the speed limit anyway 55 mph. It was a BLAST! We just don't get to run those distances on a weekend down here - too many boats. You had that boat dialed in and it was SUPER clean. We all have those boats that should have never sold. I've sold more boats that I shouldn't have sold than most people have boats in their lifetime unfortunately. I don't get attached to too many of them, but there are a few that it makes me sick to my stomach when I think about them....

It's very fast! It has all the HO porting and a nice cone on the case. All done by the owner. He was a certified OMC mechanic. He's spinning a big blade 32P cleaver in the upper 6K area. It runs about 102...maybe a bit more??

Ya she moves pretty good i was running a ****t* prop 4blade threw hub with 2 people running lower 90's best so far has been 104's with a bigger wheel. but truth be told the new Venom will be faster! give it time!

The no stress part didn't last too long once I found out she was sinking again. :eek: Oh well, that is why we get winter up here (so we have time to work on our boats). :D Thanks for the picture Chris I can sit back and enjoy a better time in about a month and that picture will be one of the better times.

The last few Power tour stops really added the boats to the member list! If we keep growing at the same pace we would be looking at ALOT of hydrostreams at places like Kosh, Wolf river and of course the 3 lakes shootout!!!

Five invites have been sent out to join the Hydrostream Owners Group. To those of you that got these, you have earned them. We do not take this group lightly. Those that receive membership to this group have demonstrated that they are good people that are willing to help one another and are a positive contribution to the power tour and to Scream and Fly.

We typically like to meet you in person and get to know you prior to letting you in the group, however, it is not always a requirement. We have had some individuals that are too far away to make any events or simply aren't able to. We have made a few exceptions and allowed other's in based on their distant positive contribution to our cause. In some cases a member helped one of us with a technical problem or worked with us in other ways to assist the overall success of the group.
