SAVE PROPELLERS! eat a manatee
My first reaction, being a former die-hard liberal, is to say expand the area but I like how you point out that these tree-huggers are on the payroll and that I'm sure you guys are honest and those libs are just sucking up and living on donations.
I lost all respect for those charities when o' reiily exposed those hollyweed liberal charities that spent 90% of their $ on overhead, which was their friends and family running the charities!

Da Bull, I have an uncle with a black iron pot large enough for a bull Manatee. I bet it would take a shopping cart full of onions to make a sause-p-caunt. I'll get the uncle, gas and onions, Yall bring the rice and beer. We'll do this. What about intertainment? Anything but rap will do for me. Then we can cap off the evening with a boat ride, freaken right this thing is snowballing, come on yall get aboard!!!!!!

It is really amazing that laws can be passed with no fact supporting them. I asked the Fish & Wildlife directors at the UNF auditorium meeting what kind of proof that they had that a propless PWC had ever injured a manatee.
They said the had "Heard" of two manatee deaths caused by PWC. I asked them for documentation and the replied, "It's not available".
I hope no one patronizes anything of Jimmy Buffet's since every dollar spent with him is used to kill boating in Florida....

Huh? How do you figure that? Do you stop and pick up a deer that you ran over? Maybe a dog?

Lots of cats! Buffalos are rare to catch.
I didn't mean picking up what you kill unintentionally. If I knew there was say a bay full of manatee I would not run the boat there. Last year DNR was looking for someone who ran a snowmobile thru a bunch of geese. On purpose. Thats what I mean as wrong.

Right. But you have to understand the extreme environmentalists. They are as radical as radical gets. Setting cables to intentionally physically stop a boat with no regard for the human lives they put in danger.
They are not that much different from the anti-gunners. Give them an inch and they will want a mile!!! Nothing will make them happy until they have stopped all motorized boat traffic completely. Other wise how do you explain the harm incurred from a PCW which has an enclosed impeller?
Tell me how a jet can harm one. What a JOKE! Some or most of the WL&F AKA fish police could care less either. I believe that most would just as soon us stay at home.

Well Kuczman , I see your not from Florida ,so you don't see some of the same things I do around here . For instance , there is a boat in my area that leaves out of the marina a couple of nights a week loaded with letuce and such . This nut bar is intentionally relocating groups of manatee into areas where there is known boat traffic ,and reporting there movement to the Marine Patrol and FWC . Then he's got the balls to bitch at me when I'm out running in an area that is NOT RESTRICTED , because these creatures are there . With all this years flooding and access to areas that are normaly high land , I'm suprised they haven't found any carcussis up in the wood ,now that the water is back down in the normal range . In my opinon , this guy and others like him are a much bigger threat to these things then any of us recrational boaters will ever be .

It should be said that I doubt anyone would intentionally harm or hit a manatee , but manatee extremists are the problem and it was the money supplied by them that brought the whole deal to federal court anyway . They sued the US Fish and Wildlife Service in federal court and and won forcing the first manatee slow speed zones which have never been proven to have saved anything . You should see what Tampa Bay looks like with pilings driven around the perimeter with signs on them ...PILINGS !! .It's a friggin mess and Charlie Christ is as pro enviro as it gets ....

The Problem with hitting a manatee is prop damage! Nothing more they do not belong here!
One of my guys told me they HAD a lot of Manatees at his place in Cuba That is until one day they caught one and cooked it!! BTW he said it was dam good!
So start a rumour Manatee meat is better than Vigira , A fountain of youth it brings luck on the lottery.

Manatees are highly inteligent creatures. They can read the "manatee zone" signs and stay within the borders. They also can tell the what day and month it is because they only roam in certain areas during certain months. They also seem to congrigate near and around rich people's water front property. The same people that don't want boaters going any where near "their' personal peice of waterway.
What a friggin joke.:nonod:

No arguing with previous posts. None whatsoever. My beef is with guys who f.e. fish but let the fish die on the string or throw them away afterwards. Stuff like that. Like the commercial fishermen here: draw the nets into a 30-40' circle that literally boils with fish on Friday and leave for the weekend. On Monday so many fish are dead and they just dump them. All that DNR had to say is "this is dirty business". Guess why I'm pissed when my fishing licence is checked and poles counted...

The SMC is on the war path because the government actually took the manatee off the endangered list and moved them to "threatened" which is a notch lower. These "people", I use that term loosely, will stop at nothing to get their way so they can keep feeding their money machine. The truth is the manatee is not threatened at all, their numbers are good. These "people" have found an inroad to create a wave of environmental hysteria, that uses the Florida manatee as the goat.
It is a fact that the SMC payroll is huge. People forget that those involved in a "non profit" business STILL get paid.
It is also a fact that manatees are consumed by Cubans and other peoples of South America. I too know people from these places that have eaten manatee. They all say the same thing.....it is very good.
Another fact that would horrify a manatee lover is that in the Amazon shallows, baby manatees are attacked and eaten by jungle cats.
It is a fact that additional manatees WERE brought from central and South America like 100 years ago and dumped into inland Florida waterways to help clean out the choked up rivers that you now go boating on!! Of course, things like this are never spoke of.
The biggest manatee kill happened at a powerplant in Florida about 20 years ago. About 25 manatees had migrated to the warm water discharge area in the river. Then, someone decided it was time for a plant shutdown. With such a sudden water temp drop, all the manatees went belly up. Very few ever heard about that incident.

I will say this back when the environ fags were first crying about these destructive creatures by saying things like there were only 1500 left BUNK!! Mercury put up a chopper and started counting the Bay bottom Manure spreaders seems they got to @5800 or so and JUST stopped as the story goes and even saw a white one. But this was never made public.
you are right steve. The manatee is the poster animal for lots of different agendas, but one thing for sure is that if the manatee no longer needs protection, then all those who use it to get their own agendas put in motion will not have thier front man.
There is a saying around here... "Why is it manatees only live behind million dollar mansions and how do they know?":rolleyes::rolleyes:
I actually really like them, am in favor of rational protection, and hate to see one cut up with prop marks, but the fuggers who sell the manatee BS for their own gain can suck it.

Fish , I've never seen him actualy feeding them . I have checked his truck several time when down at the ramp in the evenings , and looked in his boat when he's come in at night and I've been down there . There is usualy plastic wrappers from the veggetable in the bed of his truck , and I have seen lettuce in his boat .Every thing I own is way to loud to be sneaky , I'd have to get a kayak in order to sneak up on the guy in the act . Them Tom would be hating on me for being one of them paddle people . ;)

I have nothing against kayaks or canoes etc ( I have a canoe ) and actually want a kayak for exercise and fishing potential . It just seems all the kayak paddling , hybrid driving tofu consuming vegetarian , obama voting manatee activist sympathizers choose to blacklist powered craft . You know what ...the next kayak nazi that tells me "I don't have a problem getting between your boat and a manatee " , I will hand feed him something that resembles manatee flesh ( my fist ) or my bow !:D:D:cheers::cheers:
Growing up in the Homestead/Fla City area as a child . My friends and I would put out john boats in at what was left of the old wooden Card Sound bridge and spend the day running through the upper keys. I didnt know till much later what Cow Pens Cut stood for . Seems like the old timers had it right from the start . I know for years people tried to get speed limit laws passed , which fell on deaf ears , untill they (as was stated) used the sacred cow as their front man . The law makers couldent sleep at night knowing that there were poor cows out there being run over , and moved with knee jerk reaction to do something about this terrible problem . I bought one of those endangered outlaw shirts with the cow on a spit roasting over a fire . With the looks and comments I was harrassed with by the brainwashed , I dont ever see the laws ever going back the other way . The only saving grace we have here in the Stuart area is whats left the OMC test center and the fact that Frances Langford (Ralph Evenrude's wife) had alot of pull with state and local authorities while she was alive , and for a while was able to keep much of our St. Lucie and Indian River waters limit free . Not many "Normal Safe Operating Speed" sign's left anymore .

{But don't expect to identify Cowpens Cut by the sea cows there. Manatees, now on the endangered species list, were once plentiful enough for the early settlers to pen them up in Cowpens Cut prior to slaughtering them for food. Some keys will be identified by a tall, dead tree or a wide, bushy tree, or a narrow sand beach, or a creek which runs right through it.}

I`m glad we don`t have those stupid ass manatees here, thank god!No speed zones, just a few over zealous DNR.I feel sorry for the boaters in florida that have to put up with that sh**T.Screw the manatees, just like the dinosaurs that are extinct, nature will take its course,I find it hard to believe that powerboats are killing them. All the enviromentlists want to do is take freedom away.

I've seen alot of manatees. Some have the prop scars, but I'll bet only 1 in 10 have a skeg scar going through the prop slashes. That means they're probably getting hit by the slower inboard cruisers.
