When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe .
Thomas Jefferson (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/t/thomasjeff109181.html)

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
Thomas Jefferson (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/t/thomasjeff122881.html)

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.
Thomas Jefferson (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/t/thomasjeff136389.html)

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
Thomas Jefferson (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/t/thomasjeff136410.html)

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.
Thomas Jefferson (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/t/thomasjeff157220.html)

No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.
Thomas Jefferson (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/t/thomasjeff125076.html)

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
Thomas Jefferson (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/t/thomasjeff100991.html)

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Thomas Jefferson (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/t/thomasjeff109180.html)

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.
Thomas Jefferson (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/t/thomasjeff157246.html)

In light of the present financial crisis, it's interesting to read what Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:

'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered

Now the entire working class is in debt from regular everyday expenses, and their tax dollars are being used to bail out corrupt banks.

Didn't Thomas Jefferson have slaves to do his work?

if you hypocrites wouldn't live beyond your means you wouldn't have that problem. Now go cry about the "fat cats" and put more things you don't need on your credit card to pad their pockets.

Don't use the "you hypocrites" crap on me, Jim. Not that it's any of your business, but I haven't been living above my means. I have a mortgage and a car loan, that's all. I pay off my credit card balance every month. I'm paying off the car loan in January.

a mortgage where? EXACTLY, on the water in some upscale development on you're salary... no wonder you complain about not having money and being in debt from everyday expenses, too busy buying houses you cant afford, and cant even get through a time with slightly higher cost of living without racking up massive credit card debt you cant repay or spending every dime you make to survive. Despite what your parents told you, you aren't anymore special than anyone else on here, and living in a house you can't afford is not a God given RIGHT. Its your right to do whatever you want, but to come on here and bitch about YOUR choice is the ultimate in hypocrisy.

If you want to go further with this discussion, just let me know. I'll be your huckleberry. :reddevil:

Actually, it's 2nd tier access (across the road from lakefront), a 1700 sq ft ranch on a crawlspace, it's one of the smallest houses in my neighborhood.

Thomas Jefferson had slaves to do his work. The slaves did lots of work, and Thomas Jefferson made lots of money.

In todays world, we still feed them, clothe them, and give them a house to live in...

we just don't get any work out of them in return. :leaving:
