we have two star programs in NY one is basic star witch is throw the county and one called the star rebate program the is run by the state.

basic star you see on your property tax bill

star rebate program the state sends you a rebate check
if you have basic star on your property tax bill you should have been inrolled for the 2008 star rebate program if you did not get a notification in the mail from nys you need to call STAR REBATE PROGRAM 518-457-2036 the deadline is dec 30th have your tax bill in hand when you call

we need to write our reps and tell them to vote down the current budget proposal... he wants to make some agency cuts that don't make sense... I am a NYS employee and talking about eliminating my raise (enough to cover inflation...)because we are in tough fiscal times... well I dont get a bonus when times are good... not to mention I work for mere peanuts as it is... somewhere on the budget page it says the average state or DOT employee makes 62k+ a year with excellent fringe benefits... lemme tell you I'd be happy to be making that much right now... I do feel lucky to have income as some friends do not... but he is out of line...
