You guys check this website that tells you which vehicles are E85 compatible?

Im shocked at how many are on there, some older vehicles too, dating back to the early 2000s, late 90's

Last I seen Saturday E85 was like $1.50 a gallon here.

Example, a surburban all the way back to 2002 is E85 compatable!

my Jeep Cherokee made the list!!!

its good for those of you who may use super when towing, like a dodge 1500 truck makes the list, as does your suburban, E85 is over 100 octane. Alot of car guys are re-tuning thier cars and fuel systems to run it because its like race fuel.

You lose a little mileage with it depending on driving style, im going to give it a shot and see what kind of mileage the jeep gets.

I was told by a guy that has a dyno shop that any fuel injected motor can run it with a different custom map. Ethonal has a 105 octain rating.

E85 has less energy content, so you burn more.

Ethanol also creates more CO2 than gasoline. I think it's a scam. Stick to drinking it.

Rob, Don't you live like 2 miles form your shop?:D

I drive outside of that 2 mile area though!

I am re-doing the fuel system and re-tuning the ECU in my RX7 to run E85, guys have stopped buying super expensive race fuel and started running this stuff.

Will be able to turn up the boost and pay less then super unleaded

i converted 2 of my turbo cars to run on it.

1.60 a gallon up here makes for really cheap race gas.

I have a friend that runs E-85 in hiz racebote, and it runs reely good...BUT, it only runs wit nitrous to back it up!!....

I personally kan't see why anyone would pay $1.50 a gallon for a fuel that haz less power output, and emits more harmfull gasses, and burns more per mile than gasoline....PAY ME NOW, OR PAY ME LATER!!...

It don't matter what fuel U wind up with, when everbody git's on a wagon, the price ov the wagon goes up!!....Look at Diesel!!....Tha only reason Diesel iz still over $.50 a gallon, iz kuz ov the amount ov people use'in diesel to power thier vehikles!!....Biodiesel iz cheeper...wait till everbody jumps on tha biodiesel bandwagon and see what happenz.......

I thank STEEM iz tha way ta go....Aww hell, if'in ya ain't got a flowwell, Ya back ta square one...

Been running it 25% 87 and 75% E85 in my 93 GMC. It runs just fine. I think it runs cooler and cleaner actually. No stopped up fuel filters like the nay sayers say it will.

It doesn't produce more CO2 than gas and probably less CO3. We can break down some carbon chains if you like. ;)

I would rather my $$$ stay here that go to the dune coons!

And the bio diesel is actually more expensive (here) depending on what blend you get.

Look at the total production cycle of ethanol to see the extra C02:

C02 produced by farm equipment to make corn
C02 absorbed by corn growing
C02 produced as by product of corn to ethanol conversion
C02 produced by burning ethanol

The C02 for different fuels is listed in this months Road and Track, along with the energy required to make the fuel.

did they subtract out the CO2 the corn recycles. Did they add up all the CO2 we are spending with all our army in the middle east?

Or even the CO2 used to get the oil over to the US to get made into gas and all the CO2 used to make the steel for the ship.

My problem with all this is where do you draw the line both sides slant stuff back and forth at each other and sling so much BS no one really knows what is going on.

How about:

CO2 produced by exploration
CO2 produced to drill the hole
CO2 produced to pump the oil to the surface
CO2 to carry it over here from the dunes via ships
CO2 produced to refine it into gasoline and it's other products
CO2 and no telling what else released into the air directly from the refinery
and finally the CO2, CO, hydrocarbons, NOX, etc. emited by the engines themselves.

What about cellulose ethanol? Are you against it as well?

Hey Forkin, all that CO2 makes me crave a beer! (he,he,he). Don't forget not to exhale.

The chart claimed to include ALL the CO2 for the various fuels.

Ethanol from cellulose is not being commercially produced. I'd have to see the numbers (energy to produce vs energy available, C02 produced) before I could decide if it was sensible or not.

I heard somewhere that ethanol from sugar cane is more sensible, but not allowed in the US. Could be true.

cough-cough-cough... I knew I forgot something. :o

I know there is no commercial cellulose production... yet.

There is no commercial butanol available yet either, but they are working on it. ;)
