Where do I purchase specialty tools, Yamaha. I want a trim cap tool and a spark checker, mabe a few other things.

I got my spark tester from CDI ( Rapair ) years ago its air gap is adjustable and will test up to 8 plugs at once...... DUNNO about the other tool must be a "rice" thang ...:thumbsup:

Isn't it K&L that makes tools for yamaha. A dealer should be able to get them for ya if all else fails.

They used to be made by Kent-Moore/SPX but I don't see them listed on their website. This stuff is REAL expensive. You're better off borrowing/renting from the dealer for the one time you'll use the trim cap tool. I'd lend you mine if you were closer....I think it would be easy to make.

The spark tester you can get anywhere.

kent-moore thats what I was thinking but had a brain fart. I think we have a universal spanner at work I will see if I can find out who it's made by.

Kent Moore is no longer doing the Yammi tools, My local dealer is a freind of mine, work for him for 7 years. He will not order TOOLs for ME. Small conflict of interest.

Professional quality spark checkers intended for outboards are available from Stevens Instruments (http://www.stevensinstrument.com/) and Mer-o-tronic ( http://www.mercotronic.com/home.htm).

The Rapair unit Jay refers to is made by Stevens and is actually 2 4-gang testers that clip together. I've had one for years and like it too.

Both these companies used to give a discount if you could provide documentation that you were a dealer or an apprentice.
