I'm approaching the point, on my junk hull repair, (I mean "classic boat restoration") where it's time to put the deck back on.
I've read other strings where people have advised using 3M 5200 adhesive at the deck hull seem. But I'm wondering what to do where the deck/splash well lays over the top of the transom. There is going to be a pretty big gap between the lip on the deck and the transom top. I've been thinking of wetting out some mat with epoxy and using that but I'm wondering if some other high tech stuff (5200?) would be a better choice.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

how big of a gap are we talking?

It's pretty uneven, but between 1/8 and 1/4". It looks like they (the factory) used some kind of putty originally. The stuff looks a little like bondo but is much harder.

i would use the mat to build it up and secure it, the epoxy and other fabrics are stonger, just a matter or opinion as to which to use

You can get fillers that mix with epoxy. They're a whole bunch of different kinds ranging from lightweight, easy to sand to bonding. Mix some up and stuff it in there, then bevel it out nice.

thanks for the input.

If the temp drops below 98 anytime soon I just might get this thing finished up
