have been hanging around on the BBC boards and have always been interested in hi-performance bass boats.I have contributed some but mostly have been helped by the Ghurus such as Mike Lohn in deciding which and what props for my TR21XHP/ 250HO combo. It's still not where I want it but maybe I'll find the right combination in these threads...........G:)

My given name is Garland and a member in our bass club back about 1988 added Gar to fish. Most in the club have called me G-man ( back when Gerald was just a twinkle in his Daddy's eye). So I decided to use the Garfish for my handle..........G

Is that the "Chigger" that I saw in one of the ESPN episodes at a TX and he's driving an Eliminator or something like it with 2-280's on it? He was also in that series of the Bass workshop?

Garland, how are you liking that 250? I am going to take one out next weekend and run it on a 201Evo. Was supposed to last weekend but got sick...lol

Grant check out Blue Steels comments in the thread he started on "Marks prototype prop". It will give you an idea what an Evo is doing with the 250HO. I'm not your best source for info on the 250HO what with all the stumbling blocks I've had since installing it. I've had bad weather, High winds, jack plate troubles, unsuccessful props....you name it. I will tell you this the engine has pushed my TR21XDC to 79.1 at 5850 rpm using a 27TXP prepared by Mark. But the best all around prop so far has been the 28 BravoI worked by Mark. I am going to try another 27 TXP B&Bp and cupped by Mark, have it on the way now. Probably won't be able to try it for couple of weeks because I'm taking the engine in for another software mapping re-call, a noticeable loss of power ( I think is a coil or injector) and an electrical gremlin that has my gauges (tach, volt, fuel and trim) intermittantly going off and back on and I've had a re-call on my Tour 82P. You see it's one thing after the other. I've been chronicaling my efforts on the Triton board ( electrical gremlin) I haven't griped about the engine because even though I have been disappointed in performance here lately it hasn't left me hanging any where. ( long I'm sorry).......G

Well, let's suffice it to say I don't browse BBC anymore....
I've run a few on the 201XL's, but haven't had a chance to run the 201Evo with a 250 yet. What I have noticed is that they are a brute monster out of the hole and have good mid range, but tend to use more oil and fuel than seems normal for that size engine. It's almost like running a 260 or a drag lol! The gear ratio also is hard to prop for on a standard bass boat, it's hard to find the right prop for a general, all around prop. If you prop it for top end, it's a dog when you fill the wells. If you prop for carrying a load, it hits the red line too quick when you are empty first thing in the morning.

I can't say enough about the 28 BravoI, I come out of the hole petal to the metal and have plugged it to do 4600rpm no matter the load. It will plane in less than 5 sec and not blow out on the break over all I do is trim up. Been running about 2" inches below the pad but when the plate is all the way up I'm dead even with the pad. I can't run it this high without overheating hence the 2'" below. The 28 in my humble opinion isn't enough. I think I can turn a 30 but Mike Lohn doesn't think so, but moot point because I can't find a used one for a reasonable price and I'm just not going for retail. It is the Schizzle..........G

You can turn the 28 to 6000 with the 1.71 gears?! Holy ****, that thing is a monster!
Garfish

The engine is producing about 275 hp at that 4-4500 range that's why I want it to come out of the hole producing all it's ponies right off the bat..........G
