Back in May we noticed the rust was starting to get a bit bad on the old girl so we took it apart and had it sandblasted, and, it fell to bits...

Turns out that the paint and good luck was holding it together... Now as far as mates and team-mates are concerned, mine rock! I'm not a "metal" guy. I work with timber - metal just gives me the dirts. Starting with the bare frame, my blokes cut all the old ribs out of it and the back off it, they then fabricated new ribs on site (in an old shed at a mates place), had a new plate folded to suit the back, then cut and fabricated it to suit the trailer.

Then we had to figure out what lights were going in it. It previously had large multi-light units that are normally used on trucks and they were just bolted on the back. It looked ok for it's day but we wanted to modernise it. We looked at several types of LED's until we came up with what you see. My mate who is the wiz at welding and fabricating then sat down with the grinder and a 1mm thick disc and proceeded to cut THE neatest holes I've ever seen in my life. Every light is a nice, snug fit, including the reversing lights which we hid down in the bottom of the guards (I think they're the coolest part cause you don't see em till your really looking at it. The back is now smooooth...

We then hoisted it up, primed it, painted it in 2 pak black, wired it, and then re-assembled all of the checkerplate (which I had powdercoated). Total build (rebuild) time - 3 weeks which consisted of nights and weekends, in the dead of winter, when you couldn't get your fingers to co-operate!

Here's some more pics of the finished article - I'm quite proud of our home-made rebuild. It's also since received a nice set of new axles and chrome 17" wheels.

This boat was a blast to watch run, and it was very "quiet" as compared to it's supergharged counterparts because it didn't exhaust into the atmosphere everything went throught the turbos.

I see them racing here in Scandinavia and in race trim with cockpit and all they still manage over 105mph with a Mercury 200xs ros. So with a 300xs, no cockpit and much lighter they should run like a bat out of h***!

Some of you may recognize this one as I bought it last summer from another member here. It's definitely one of a kind, thanks to the one off color scheme that was never available on this boat from the factory. It was love a first sight for an old fart who watched these old Allison's buzz up and down the river from when I was younger, and this is my third old school 20. 1982 Allison GT20 with a full restoration by Jack Barsh. Motor is a 1999 200XRi with a custom Mike Nass cowl and custom decals to complete the old school look. It's a blast to drive and always draws attention.
