The last 2 week while working on my lastest Allison project at Jack's Shop (Full Throttle Powerboats/Quatershots ) I have got to see something really neat and special... Jack is volunteering some time and shop space to teach boys from the local Safe Harbor Boys Home on how to refinish thier Hydroplane molds followed up with building about 10 boats to race in the future. It's been such a pleasure to watch these boys work so hard on something they are so excited about. Each guy so polite, well mannered and listens to any advice you offer. Also beside spending time working on thier molds...they gotten to see Jack lay up a new STV and pop another one out of the mold.

I highly suggest you visit there website to see what a great home/program this is for these boys that is centered around Boating and Christian values..

Been reading about that group and wishing I was closer to be able to help.

Kneel down racing is one of "THEEEE" best family activities there is.
Teaches responsibility, patience, comradory, respect etc, etc.

Well done Jack Barsh and crew!

Talked to jack this morning about the work he is doing for this project and these kids, what a class man he is. So far he seems very impressed with their willingness to learn and listen, just goes to show that with some direction and oversight how far somebody you never expect to succeed can do very well

Rick.
I was on the wrong path as a youngster when I got involved with boat racing in junior high and was lucky enough to have a mentor that taught me about boat racing but more importanly how it pertained to life.
Not sure where I'd be without it.

Their story has been in the news down here for a while although I did read some whining on here about the kids being able to run in water that was off limits to the locals. (deal with it!)

Few things in life are as rewarding as helping someone, especially a kid, realize a goal. What is a job, or just a pain in the ass, to some is a dream of others. The time spent has been a really big deal to these kids and I am sure has been just as rewarding for Jack. You can be proud of yourself Mr. Barsh.

As Stated before, this is something these kids will never forget. Truly a Class Act on Mr. Barsch's behalf. I salute your efforts not only to help these kids get some joy out of what probably hasn't been such a great start in life, but also helping further the interest in our sport and nurture its growth.
Hats off to YOU Jack!
