These upgrades really work well guys. I had them done to my 225X.....................NOTICEABLE difference!

Gotta pair of 225X's. What did you up the rev limiter to? Did you get rid of the oil injection?
Did the lightened flywheel make that much of a difference? I run out in the ocean a lot and the props break loose, don't want to blow anything up.

I moved his limiter to 7300. The oil pump is electronically driven so there is not a problem with the rpm. Yes the lightened flywheel does make a difference, it helps with the hole shot , accelearation, and top and.

As Eric said........7300 now on mine. The lightened flywheel definitely makes a difference, confirmed by my son, and he drives the boat as much as I do. I did start adding .6 ounce of oil per gallon to my fuel to get the ratio more to 40 to 1. I'm not sure this was necessary but for now I'm doing it as a precautionary measure. Really neat to see 26 pitch props that used to hit the limiter at 6850 and 86 mph keep on climbing now to 92 mph.

Adding oil to your gas in an Opti is not a good idea and does absolutely nothing but lean out your fuel mixture and potentially cause other problems..

He doesn't have an Opti, he has a Pro Max.

Mm.. Well then I recant my statement :) Good to see someone finally got into the new ecu's.

Eric,
How does moving the limiter on an XS opti effect the compressor? I've always heard (and seen first hand) that the compressor is the weak link for higher RPM's on an opti. If you move the limiter to lets say 6,800-7,000 RPM, can the compressor handle it? or is it a gonner?
Simon

The compressor can handle up to 6800. Most xs's will not spin up there anyways. Some of the xs's come with a 5900 limit , so I move those up to the 6400 limit. They do not make more power up there.

My 06 250XS has the 5,900 limiter. So it can safely be moved up to 6,400 rpm? Will this add anything to your HP, or will it just give you the ability to go beyond the factory set limiter?
Thanks
Simon

the 250xs makes power up to 6100. If you lighten the flywheel and move the limiter you will notice the difference.

Simon,
Does this in any way increase the chances of kaboom? I like the reliability of my motor but am concerned if I do these upgrades that it could come back to bite me. Any input is appreciated?

how is it possable to add oil and have a "leaner" mix as a result? does some computer tell the motor it has too much oil and decrease original percentage?

I was a doofus and misread his post thinking he had an opti which he does'nt... when oil is added to gas it's viscosity is thicker, therefore less fuel with every injector pulse, and a different burn characteristic. While a regular injected motor it makes little difference, a dfi motor is a totally different animal on a very specific fuel curve.

The lightened flywheel will not hurt your motor.

12-16-2008, 10:32 PM
But what about the raised rev limiter?
Simon
12-16-2008, 10:35 PM
The motor will not spin high enough to hurt itself. I set the limiters at 6400 and the motor will only pull up to 6100, it is very safe.

Simon,
I'll get in touch with you after the holidays and get everything sent down to you. PM the price for the Rev Limiter adjustment. I know the price for the flywheel.
Thanks,
Dave

The flywheel lightning and limiter moved is 750.00.

Doesn't this decrease the octane rating a littlt? Smitty
Simon

Yes it would decrease the octane a little.
