is the bolt patern the same on 12" as a 15" mid????? where it bolts to the transom...
on my hydro the steering arm would be in the way with a 15" mid....

no-the pattern is different-there are 6 bolts in total.

Not only are the bolt patterns TOTALLY different, but some people are unaware that there is actually a FULL 5 INCHES difference between the 15" and 12" mid section. 12's are measured in ACTUAL mid section height, where 15's, 20's, 25's etc are described in terms of the transom height of boats they're intended for assuming cavitation (anti ventilation) plate even with the bottom of the boat.

You should also be aware that unless you go to the type of transom/swivel bracket that has the hyd. up/down in addition to the in out that the trim ram will require a hole THROUGH the transom, or in the case of a boat with a jackplate through the plate. Also, the 12" type transom assy. is not exactly compatible with most of the manual jackplates that have double aluminum angle forming the sides.

If you'll post some specifics of what you're trying to do I think we could probably offer some suggestions, or at least point out potential problems ahead of time.

it is for a pugh hydro... with a 15" mid the steering arm coming through the transom for the rudder would hit the mounting bracket.... i was told i needed a 12" mid... i was hoping the bracket is different. narrower, or shorter bolt pattern, so it would not interfere with my steering.... this gives me hope... anyone know if it is narrower or shorter than a standard clamp bracket..... i dont need trim.. but hydro up and down would be sweet...

thanks

It is both narrower and shorter than std transom brackets. Bracket is approx 9" tall from top of transom to bottom of bracket and 11" wide. Hydraulic up/down type is a little wider than 11 inches a couple of inches down from transom the way it's shaped. Older ones come straight down.
