When the starter won't turn the engine over...
Sorry.. I've had a rough day and I just had to make a joke...
Blew one engine on the back of our boat and .. Let me repeat.. AND!! Blew the front main tranny seal on my FORD Diesel truck.. The Tranny doesn't have 10K miles on it...

What octane and brand of fuel are you using? What boat hull? How are you using the boat?

Twister,
I have found that numbers above 200 # does not make a very noticable different as far a making one quicker and will sometimes slows one down. Vee bottoms have a tendency to roll and take longer to take a set when the compression is VERY high. And after all setting and getting underway wins races not fighting a rolled over on its side V bottom , the quicker one can get control and under way the quicker one will become.. The 2 stroke unlike a 4 stroke that has exhaust valve duration to get the exhaust out of the motor will dead head and quit pulling when the compression is VERY high ( 250# or so ) I have seen motors with 250# compression hit hard out of the hole and simply labor bind and die one the vine at the midrange and big end ! Also compression above 200 # is a death sentence on parts such as bearings , rods , pistons and bank accounts ! :)
Been there and done it !
