Thanks for the nice words- much appreciated.

If you're in southwest Florida, you could plan on hooking up with Ft Myers Offshore. We have fun runs scheduled every year for Thanksgiving and New Years. (it's great living down here :D) I'll be in a chopper on the New Year's run this year. More info at ftmyersoffshore.com

I've just added another 40 pix to the Key West set (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jay2boat/sets/72157608954518167/).
There are over 200 shots there now... so the slideshow is a good way to view them.

We are very fortunate here in SW Fla- got plenty of places to boat all year long, and we have members from Marco Island up to Sarasota.
We usually rally at the Sanibel Bridge because it's a central location and we can head out to any number of destinations from there.
The New Year's Run will be to Marco Island for lunch at Guy Harvey's (about 50 miles). We always plan to do something after lunch,
but it isn't an official part of the run... usually a trip to Keywadin Island to hang out.
One year, Bob Barnhart, who has been boating in the area for 17 years, led the group on a run around Marco Island thru the mangroves-
it was cool as hell, like a road rally. Here's a set of pix from 2007 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jay2boat/sets/72157602329193822/).

This is usually our largest event of the year- last year we were expecting 45 boats, but it rained one day all month- guess which day?
Hope you can join us- pm your email address and I'll get you on the notification list.

Here are a few group shots from previous runs.

Thanks Jay, I definitely can't make it to the run this weekend. Bummer!!
I'm trying to book a place down there for the week of the New Years run.
If you have any suggestions of places that offer parking for boats and launch facilities, I'd be grateful, Thanks Scott

Yeah, I know it's short notice! ;) Just wanted to give you an idea of the kind of participation we get on our holiday runs.

Ft Myers Beach would be a good central place to stay- it's very close to the Sanibel Bridge rally point, and there is plenty of good boating right in the area. The Pink Shell is a nice place right on the beach, and they have docks. PRA uses it as host hotel for their events there. If you want to stay at another place, Salty Sam's could take care of the boat- they have secure storage facilities and a launch area. A couple of maps- one shows our overall stomping grounds from Everglades City up to Punta Gorda and the second is a look at the Ft Myers Beach area. Pink Shell is about 3 miles from the Sanibel Bridge.

Have to show you a shot of the Lani Kai in July... crazy place. Water is so calm here that you can anchor right off the beach and walk up to the numerous bars and get a cold beverage. No place like it. ;)

Looks like a great time. I love that area. A friend towed his boat down a few years back and had it docked in Captiva. We ran all around there. It's beautiful.
