I'm sure this is familiar territory, but thanks for indulging me. Any big support one way or the other for the V-6 over the inline? Any price differences? Maintenance issues? Thanks in advance.:)

For me ,although an old Motor ,The 2L especially in 150hp guise is one of mercurys best motors .These motors will take a thrashing and properly maintained will go forever,A far superior motor to the in line .

I've got a '78 175 2.0, crankshaft rated obviously, and it's a sweetheart of a little motor. Ran great on my hydrostream. Very user friendly and doesn't seem to have any wierd quirks. My dad had a '88 135, did everything under the sun to it and it just never was quite right. This old 78 is a great runner. (it's on the floor of my garage not being used) As far as the inline, I've got nothin, but I was pleased with the V-6.

Thank you, gentlemen. Any best guess on what an "average" one of these goes for?
$1200.00 $1000.00 $800.00?
