Patchogue man crushed by boat
<DL class=byline>BY JENNIFER SINCO KELLEHER | jennifer.kelleher@newsday.com <DD>5:15 PM EDT, November 1, 2008 </DD></DL>A Patchogue man was crushed and killed by his 24-foot boat Saturday afternoon while trying to store it for the winter, Suffolk police said.
Edward Freitas, 62, was at his summer residence, a private community in Oakdale, when the Fiberglas boat shifted off blocks supporting the vessel and its trailer, police said.
A friend found Freitas at about 12:22 p.m., police said.
Freitas, a recently retired banker who lived in Patchogue in the winter months, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said
