I just installed a new set of dual ride guide cables, and they have some slop/play when i turn the wheel, and I'm not sure if they were always like this. If i turn the wheel left, it turns maybe 3/4 an inch before the outboard turns, if i turn it right its the same thing, so i have around an inch and a half of play/slop. Is this normal, is there any way to tighten it?
Thanks

Striker, I assume you tightened the nuts on the helm end all the way as well as on the steering tubes. I have the same problem and found the slack actually in the bushings on the helm itself. There is enough slack in the bushes to allow the helm to turn without actually moving the cables. Still don't know what to do about it...

Problem has to be elsewhere - a new cable (or old one for that matter) shouldn't have any play whatsoever in the cable itself unless its actually broke.

half to ask.
did you turn the second tube such that there is no space between the cable nut hub [under the big nut ]and the second tube at the motor? if not that you problem
