This is probably a stupid question but..on a v-6 merc when somebody says "oiler" crankshaft does that mean it is out of a motor with oil injection? if so , how do you identify an oiler vs non oiler? Which is better? assuming i am going to delete oil injection anyway

Oiler Cranks have a plastic worm gear ring (either 1 or 2 piece) on the crank that drives the oil injection shaft.

Any performance gains one over the other?

The NON oiler crank used on an oiler block can be a plus . # 2 bore is always the lazy hole to to volumetric area being larger, The block can be puttied up and I use a "dummy" crank to print the wet putty , wait 24 hours and machine the excess out then you have the SAME volumetric area as the rest. The oiler crank when the gear is removed creates a TON of volumn. As far as strength I haven't seen one "stronger" than the other..

Good luck,
Jay
