Got a '95 260 power head I recently bought that's still not running after 5 weeks of screwing around with it. The guy I bought it from also has an '03 280 that I'm thinking of swapping for.
Wondering if the 280 will fit on the 1 peice exhaust plate/20" mid I have, and if there's anything else I need to be aware of. Running a CLE gear case too.

Thanks Jay. Just want to clarify a couple things on this mid/exhaust plate/tuner I have, as I don't know what it originally came off of.
The exhaust ports on the plate match the block on the 260 perfectly, and it has the rectangular tuner, which I believe the guy said came from Land & Sea or Bob's. It also has a 1/2" water tube.
If I'm not mistaken, the 280 came with an oval tuner and a 3/4" water tube. Another guy I talked to said he actually prefers the rectangular tuner, and that the 1/2" water tube won't be an issue. Can you or anyone else comfirm this? This engine is going on a lake boat and shouldn't be seeing more than 7,500 rpm.
Thanks Again

I've used the Bob's tuner they are fine. AS far as the water tube size if you wanted to convert just change the top water pump housing and have the ID on the tuner adapter bored out at the tuner adapter to accept the larger rubber gromett then the larger tube will fit fine...
BTW: there were a zillion 260's produced with the 1/2" water pump tube with no problems, unless you just wanted to up grade I'd call it good .....

So if I don't want to go through the hassle of boring out the plate & swapping out the tube and pump housing to 3/4", the 1/2" water tube will be fine on the 280?
