Over the weekend a few friends and i were on the river and while watching one of them make a speed run and playing around with the cd player i got into shallow of water and stalled the motor out on a sand bar. When restarting the motor the temp gauge read around 200 but the overheat buzzer never went off. The water pressure gauge was reading water pressure but more then usual. One of my friends planed it a couple times to get it to flush itself out it worked and now the temps back down to 140-150 which is normal but the water pressure is higher then before, better then none at all but before this happened in gear at low speed going through a no wake it would be at about 2-3pounds in N' it would be about 8 pound and at full throttle about 20-23 pounds. Now its about 8 pound in N' and about 5-6 pounds just out of N' and about 20 full throttle. Theres plenty of water coming out the ports in back 77 evinrude 140. Just curious why there would be more pressure then before at low speeds.

You melted the deflectors. Pull the heads and check them.

should that be checked right away or could it hold a couple more weeks till i store it for the winter. I live in Wi so the boating season is short.

Well, if the deflectors are melted and partially blocking the water flow, it is not a good thing. You say your water pressure is higher now, that means there's a restiction in the cooling sytem somewhere. and since you said the temp showed 200, I would guess the deflectors melted. You may also have a bunc of sand plugging up the cooling system. Look and see before you fry that thing.

im still kinda new to boats and outboards but if there was a restriction wouldn't the pressure be lower. It showed 200 but the buzzer never went off. Which we did make sure it worked. The temp is back down to normal but the pressure is still to high just in gear. Going to look at it sometime this week. if theres a block in the system from sand do the heads have to come off.

the deflector is just a rubber deflector hose right.

the rubber deflectors are between the cylinder walls and the outter case they dirrect the water around the the cyls in a certain way,,,,you must remove the heads to check them!!

Pull the cover off the thermostats while you're at it. I'll bet you have a bunch of crud in there.
