Has anyone here heard of any tendencies of a '03 or newer Hydrostream Voyager to rollover??
Any information at all is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Dan:)

I've driven a 2007 Hydrostream Voyager up to 80 mph with a 3 liter 250xs. The boat felt very stable and turned reasonably well considering the XT bottom design....the YT/XT/ZT bottoms turn flatter due to the sponsons being in the water and not allowing the boat to lean into turns.

I recently sold a Vegas, and it was one of the most stable boats I have ever driven. A friend of mine just had a wierd mishap at low speed, and I wondered if anyone has heard of anything like it.
Thanks for your response!

Two rare handling quirks can happen with a Vegas XT.
One scenario is a blowout/hook/bow-steer situation that would cause a hard "hooking" turn.
The other minor quirk happens while throttling hard during a tight low-speed turn. The hull starts out making a nice "banking" turn, then when the throttle is mashed, it lifts up and drops flat onto the water, the back end starts to slide on the pad, but the outside sponson catches the water. If you stay on the throttle, it will rhythmically bounce off the sponson, slamming your shoulder into the side.
You'd have to do something pretty odd to make a Vegas XT hook or roll over.

you can't compare the new hydrostreams to the old!!! i prefer the old!! i especially like the high quality rigging work!! maybe they need to look at allison for that too!
Maybe you as a supporting vendor should learn how to write. The gentleman asked a question about a particular hydrostream boat and you have to bring Alli's into the mix. As if we have not beat that subject to death a dozen times or more. I am sick of all you Alli guys thinking you got something special. Allison builds a beautiful boat but so does Hydrostream. So unless you have something to add to this thread and to the subject at hand, keep your opinions to yourself or start another Alli vs Hydro thread!!! that would be an original:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::r olleyes:.
Other then that take your ALLI Boat and stick it where the sun does not shine:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Anthony , The sun Aint Shined Around Here For Awhile Now !!! I'm up to my Asscrack in River Water !!! Your putting that Sweet Yeller HydroStream away for the winter , and all I can do is stare at my Allison Fishy Boat . Man That;s Just Wrong !!!
As for the question at hand , any Tunnel V can be rolled , just hook a sponson on a roller just right . Even at lower speeds it can be done , but not likely . Rich Martin 018:thumbsup:
Oh , Has There Ever Been A HydroStream vs Allison Thread Here ?
I Hadn't Noticed !!!:D

So why don't you tell us what happened so others can avoid the situation.

WOW!!!!!!!!!
i had my alli get out of control once... i was in shallow water raised up the motor... forgot how high it was took off hit about 45 and made a left turn then a right turn...
couldn't believe it..... driver error.....................
PS:
all these padded vee hulls can get out of shape....... most of the time it is driver error.... pushing it to hard, or the motor is to high, over trimmed...... i don't care who makes them!!!!!!!!! i bet pyro has blown out.... i know i have!!!!!! i have hooked it twice too... all my fault... i was learning how to drive this animal.... you wont know it's limitation to you break them....... i haven't had a problem in the last 2 years, and running faster no than i ever have!!!!!!!!!!!! i think it takes a special person to run a padded vee over a 100!!!!!!!!!!!!! not everyone can do it........
who cares what is written on the side of it.....

Thank you all for your input!! I will try and get more details, but the bottom line sounds like this isn't a common occurence with the Voyager, or the XT hull for that matter. I will try and get back with the details...
Thanks again!!

PYRO-- I experienced a very weird (and scary) situation a few years back with the Vegas XT. Had a passenger and was only running high 60"s in semi rogh water. For what seemed like no reason the boat hooked and spun, threw me into the passenger injuring him but not badly. That is the only problem I have ever had with the hull.
To this day I have no idea what or why it happened. I wouldnt think it could have been blowout at such a low speed.
Have you or anyone else experienced anything similar with the XT bottom???
Oh yeah.... to the guy cutting on streams. There will always be someone something faster more expensive bigger or whatever. have you ever hearg of top fuel?? get a life!!

I don't have any experiance with the XT hull personally . But I have seen this with a YT . Guy was running about 80 or so in a nasty wind blown chop and the boat hooked a Hard 90 deg. right turn . The driver was so drunk at the time he vnever lifted and just continued to go across the lake the other way like it never happened . I just got outa the way ,and have stayed clear of that boat ever sense . Rich Martin 018:eek:

I was running right at 80mph when my gearcase blew up last fall.........the nose dropped hard, the motor bounced off the limiter, but it stayed straight. It didn't do anything funny......just went from fast, to STOP in a big hurry. Scary, but it stayed going straight. I was pretty impressed.

The situation you are describing is a known issue with new Voyagers. Though it has not happened to me in my 2005 Voyager XT, I specifically know of weight and balance problems that caused the left sponson to catch, throwing boat into violent left turn. This is usually 30-40MPH I believe, not high speed.
I think it was on hull with heavier 4 stroke Verado??, or maybe a wakeboard tower. I believe the demo program was killed by manufacturer after a few incidents.
It was described to me as the left sponson becomes the active planing surface, but due to its shape. causes the rapid hook.

I guess Pipkorn knew what he was doing after all, eh?

Sorry,
I didn't mean to imply this had ever been a problem with MN Hydrostreams. This was a Tenn. issue.
Yes, my point exactly. The original design was a good one, and didn't need messing with too much from the sound of things.
You're going to jinx yourself with a user name like that!
