I've been thinking about the D90 ever since i started hearing the rumors and it will be the perfect kit for me. My 24-85 is a little short and not quite wide enough sometimes, but i need it for my film camera that i still use every once in a while. I just hate changing lenses all the time, so now I'll be able to keep the 24-85 on my N80, put the 18-105 on my D80 and keep my 80-200 on the D90.

I believe that a good lens is the 18-200 VR

It looks like the D90 has the same (or very similar) sensor as the D300 - that alone makes it a huge upgrade. I'm thinking of getting one as a backup myself.

The 18-200 VR is fine as long as you stay away from the far-wide and far-zoom ends of its range, where things can get a little weird.

Use the A setting (aperture preferred) when you can, try to choose f8 or f11 for best results. Pyro is correct, the middle third of the range works well in most situations.

The 18-200 VR is a great vacation lens when you do not want to carry any more than you have to.

So the old AF is not good?

It's totally fine - I was expecting them to upgrade it a bit though. :)
