Has anyone out there added any transom knees to a HYDROSTREAM Vector? Is it worth the extra effort? I'm in the process of redoing the floor and wonder if I should add some knees to it.

I think it's always best to add knees, will make the hull alot
stronger..And you'll get less flex..
T-Rex was doing a build-up that showed some really nice knees.
Plus over at H/S has a really good project..

I have seen some on an ACTION before that were all drilled with holes to lighten them up. Do you think this would take away from the strength?

Lighting Holes would be good.. Just be careful with them,

2 things to consider about those holes-
1st the wood is pretty light so your not saving a "hole" lot in wieght.
2nd the hole makes it a bit harder to cover with glass. The flat panel is just covered but the hole should be sealed. If you drill through the covered panel it would be easier, but if laminated with the hole...
It does make it look better though.

just some advice make sure when you make your knees you cut them to fit flush with the floor the deck and the transom then tie them in on both sides with glass!

What size wood would you use? 1/2"?

What type of matting did you use? Chopped or weave? If weave what size?

i used a biaxle wooven with a matt backing in english just in case your not fimilar with that all it is a single piece of fiberglass with bidirectional strands with a regular matt backing
