Well, I bought my first boat. Title says 76 pepkins, I havent found anything about pepkins on the internet. Anybody have any info? Im trying to learn as much as I can. Pulled the non running johnson and put on a 135 evinrude with a 13x19 prop. It is quick but its not as fast as I would like. Im used to a 400hp 2300lb drift car. Can I hop up the johnson while rebuilding it? Sorry for the newb questions Im just trying to gain as much knowledge as I can asap.

Looks to be a Hydrostream Vector, are you sure it is the original title for that boat? in some states boats do not have titles. Post the hull ID number, and take that damn trolling motor off the transom!!!!:nonod::smiletest:

Trolling motor is gone, thats how I bought it. Least I have a place to start for info now thanks.
Also I think I might have my hands full with it now. I found out why it was repainted and why there is drops of fiberglass resin on the trailer. The hull was damaged and someone did a shoty job of repairing it. Its cracked and took on a good amount of water on its 3rd trip out. Ill post pics when I get it back from getting and estimate.

Cant scratch the paint.
Well I have fiberglass exp. Ive just never touched a boat before, Im sure once I pull it apart I wont be stressing something I haven't seen yet. I dont know what to expect yet.
I paid 900 for it. Is that good, bad, shafted? Im thinkin the later maybe with the new found damage?
I hope it works out good being my first boat.
To the guy that asked for the HIN

You can easily sell that motor and be ahead if it's in good shape. That motor in good running condition can fetch $1000 +. Then the rest of the boat is free.

The deal you got is fine. But virtually any old Hydrostream (and this is a beautiful boat--both the paint job and the design) will have rotten core and probably a wet transom. Given that the previous owner apparently did a poor repair job and didn't tell you about it, even more likely on your rig.
From your comment that you are into drifting and that you have fibreglass experience, I gather that you have done auto body work. Core in a boat is a whole different animal. There are a number of threads on the fiberglass panel about recoring. My son (Matt Gent) is doing our Hydrostream Vandal now, and he has documented as he goes. Oldskier did one too that he has just finished--Vector, if I recall. Issues of what type of core, what type of resin to use, how to bind new to old, etc.
If it is more than you want to take on, I am sure someone on these boards will want that boat. Otherwise, read up a number of the threads and get an idea of how you will do yours.

I have been shopping for a Hydrostream. From what I have seen, you still got a good deal, regardless of the work it may need.
There are many good writeups here. On a technical side, I found this link helpful to understand hull construction and the stresses involved: http://marinesurvey.com/surveyguide/HullFailP2.htm

Welcome to the madness. You've come to a place with a bunch of very helpful sick people that aren't looking for a cure, just medication. That 'stream is going to be a lot of work, but you'll have a dandy boat when it is put back together properly. Good luck and welcome aboard. By the way, don't let these people lead you astray..Bumpers are permanently attached to a shoreside facility, fenders are what you deploy over the side of your boat to protect the hull.
