nice boats steve!!! how fast?

So far 61.1 on GPS with the wrong prop Chris AKA dasbota made me a new prop 85X15-3, this prop is big, looking for 65 MPH or more would be nice, I hope.
Expresscraft 65" GTX hull
Zenoah inlines total 52 cc 10.5 HP 18,000 RPM
It handles real nice at 60 MPH in a 6" to 8" chop
Would have been faster if I had used a stand off rudder setup.

What hull do you have and what engine you running?
WOW, that's alot of water in front of your house. Looks more like a big pond ! LOL

its an old prather commander, i put a surface drive/rudder assy on it, it has a modded zenoah pum260 in it, i forget what prop, i need to look, because i don't think its been enough-the motor is up to full rpm within 10 secs of hitting the throttle

Looks like it runs real good. That old prather commander is built like a tank
it will last a long time. I had one with a K&B 60 nitro mid 50's if I remember
correctly.

that engine in yours looks hardcore!!! i ended up making a water pickup that goes behind the prop to pickup water for the engine, the pickup on the rudder didn't work well so i use it for the exh manifold, what did you do?

No this is not one of Raj's boats, I built it with some of his advice .
He was a big help, as you know he knows this hull very well .

Check out my build thread your on RCU I see you from time to time !

Man, that WWH hull is a piece R/C boating history .
I saw a guy in the mid 1980's running one .
I have video of him running it.
Slow, but looked like he was having fun!

Yeah... i had one of the originals back in the '80's. Sold it some time ago and wanted another..... could not find one, so I had this one made. These are real fun to drive. I have an RCM drive for it and plan on putting a 5hp Zen in it.

RCM drive , I wrecked one with a SIKK 25 tuned pipe on it, in my EC cheeta .
Look at my S&F Avatar RCM drive on a Aeromarine Signature 57 it's wrecked too !

I think that drive can only handle a stock engine, but if you take it easy on it, should last a while ! I love that old WWH hull though.
Post a thread on RCU when you build it !

I remember running NAMBA at heampstead lake with Dumas scarab when i was around 10 yrs old, come to think about it it was the little version of the "UNDERDOG" kinda ironic.....anyway it had the most tired OPS 90 in it( could have push started it) and was the slowest on the lake... wadda ya know I finished 2nd outta 6 boats, So fast dont mean chit..but finishing counts:p:p:p:p:p

That's 100 % correct, you must finnish the race.
That's not easy in R/C boating world at all .
That's cool you raced there, I raced there in the early 1980's
Also raced at North pond too !
I had a Dumas Deep Vee 60 with a OPS 90. 77 MPH in a speed trap.
NO GPS at that time ! just old school time trap !
Looked funny to see that big boat going like it had a ride pad !

Hi Tom

Very cool rigger . looks like 80 to 90's are no problem there .
I never owned one but I help a friend build one over last winter .
I don't know the MPH of it yet, he told me it's fast.

Yeah , basically if you hold it wide open , at the end of the straightaways you are in the 90's if you are propped right . The biggest challenge is your timing if you ran a much slower boat the heat before where you make a 30 second final mill lap to set up for the clock , with these you set up for the clock on a 15 second or less final mill lap , it's a friggin big rush for sure !! BTW I started in RC up in LI with Larry Sybkowski and the whole crew up there in 1981 , been hooked ever since !!

what do you find is the range of the radio in the r/c boats-at 90 mph you are covering ground quickly!

Radio range on water can vary with different radio's .
Range is shorter on water then land or sky .
I don't think speed has anything to do with range .
