Ever since I hit a log last year with my lower unit my trim ram get's pressurized and goes up on it's own. I've read that the ram that comes with the 2.5 Offshore has some sort of memory safety release of some sort for when you hit something. Can't quite remember what this feature is called. But, some people on hear thought the problem was being caused from this feature.
Anyway, the unit is a 98' and nothing I'm doing is fixing the problem. I've drained it of all fluid. Put new fluid in it, spent a while bleeding all the air out of it and it's still acting up. I'll trim it up and when I let off the button it will still go up higher with built up pressure somehow. Then, If I trim down it does the same thing. I'll let off the button and it simply goes back up.
I'm not sure exactly why it's doing this. But, I know I need to fix it. I did a search on rebuilding the ram and it sounds real easy. Especially if you have the correct spanner wrench. Can someone let me know what the correct part # is for the rebuild kit on a 98' 20" offshore ram. If you happen to have the part # for the wrench that would be great as well.
Does anyone have any experience rebuilding these rams that could explain why this ram is doing this ever since I smacked that log last season. I would really like to know what I'm looking for when I take the sucker apart.
Any help is really appreciated,
Thanks
