I purchased a 22' Velocity with a 225 Yamaha on it. At least that is what I was told. (running in med 40s) After trying to setup prop etc...for more speed. I found out that it was a 150 or 175. So I purchased a 99' Mercury 225 Pro Max and I am installing now. I am trying a 26P 4 blade prop Trophy. I would appreciate if someone can give me some info, such as...water temp, water pressure, max RPMs, some dos and don'ts. What speed to expect. I have 87 octane now in the boat from Yamaha. Do I need to change? Any help would be great. Thanks

Get a 300 pro max if you can, thats what I had on mine and I can't imagine having less power . Get rid of the 87 octane , put it in your car or truck.

Toms right ! Get that gas out of it . That motor requires 91 oct. minimum . That 225 is already going to be working hard on that big boat , your best choose would have been a 3 liter motor in the 250 to 300 hp range . The ProMax is a great motor , but you would benifit from the torque the the larger displacement motors produce over the rpm of the 2.5 . You've got a bunch of people up in your area with expriance with this type of boat . Finding help should be easy . Rich Martin 018:thumbsup:

A friend of mine had an older 22 with a slightly massaged 2.4 200 merc it went exactly 67 mph with a 26 chopper

My V22 with stock Merc 200 runs 65 on a good day. 24P chopper, Bob's lwp lower, 8" setback, prop shaft 1" below the pad, 6200 rpm, 1/2 tank fuel. Just to give you a benchmark. My 200 is a 2.4.

You should do slightly better with the 225PM.

But like Tom & Rich said, 3.0Ls are better, 300PM would be perfect. AmityRay has that runs about 80.

It also depends on what Velocity you have...Tom had the original Steve Stepp one, they are a bit lighter and run faster. The Regal ones have the full cuddy cabin with bunks, need more bow lift, and have a hook in the bottom that keeps the bow down.

Search through the posts here, there is alot of Velocity info if you look for it.

Good luck!
