Hi Guys

Just Bought A 1990 Ranger 391v (boat And Dual Axle Trailer) For 500 Bucks. Guess I Was In Right Place At Right Time. Does Anybody Know Anything About These. I Am Putting My Dependable 1977 Merc 1750 On It. I Know Its Rated For 200, But This Is What I Have. How Do I Get The Bench Seat Out? I Don't See Any Screws Anywhere. Anyway, Any Input Would Be Greatly Appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

Don't know if Ranger used wood in the transom back then. If they did, it'd be worth it to be sure it isn't wet. It'd be a real downer to have yer 175 pass you up on the lake.

Other than that, I'm jealous.

hope it helps

I am a ranger owner. The back of the seat lifts (slides) up and comes free. I removed mine and replaced the seats with big man seats from cableas and made a fiberglass console box in the center. I carpeted it to match the rest of the carpet in the boat. I love it like that as I can step from front casting deck to the console and right to the rear of the boat if fighting a big fish and need ot be able to walk all the way around the boat...... Well the ranger seats were neat but this way I can replace a seat economically and quickly if I need to. They look good and ride great too. It sit a little higher than original seats but I like it that way... Feels better to me.. Hey Ranger boats are great ! Enjoy...

Ranger went to all composite in the hulls in '87. There was some ply UNDER the glass on the top cap on my '96 492 VS up by the front pedastal. The boat will be ok with the 175. Sure more ponies would be nice. I'm currently running a 220 2.4 on mine. Not a speed demon but respectable, I had it and it's paid for.

If I had it to do over again I would build a 2.4 merc for my boat because the stuff to build it with is much easier to find and it is easier to build it up. I stayed with OMC because the boat was already set up for OMC. My boat is solid as a rock as it has always been an indoor boat and I still keep it indoors when not using it... I tried to tell a freind that who insisted on keeping his Javelin in the water as he lives on the lake. After a couple years now his has a lot of big time troubles. Like rotted floors and transom rot too. Now he believes but too late now.
