On the internet I ran across a Viper River Racer that is made by Custom Kamo Mfg. Is this an actual class type racing boat or a hot rod type boat to run in protected water. Where do they race these boats. I'm up in CT and have never seen one. Do they run 40 or 50 hp motors. I'd love one to play around with if they're not too expensive. Anybody cast any light on this subject. Thanks, Gary

I think what your looking at is the company that now builds the 13' Chritfeild . They build a RR version which was the boats that where raced in APBA Formula V class . I'm not sure if these boats are being raced at this time as I haven't followed APBA for some time now . They also build a Duck Boat version with an open deck . I haven't seen any of there boats personaly . But it is a proven design hull . I could be mistaken but I beleive from the rub rail down ,it pretty much the same as a 13' Allison . As for a good recrational use for one of these boats . It would make a good river boat ,but not so well for large open waters . Rich Martin 018:D

Rich, The boat I saw was the open deck duck boat type which I assume is very light and can be fast with a small motor. There is I believe a photo of one in the photos from the S.Carolina/GA king of the Hill rally in SandF. Got a little place on Manatee River in Bradenton I'd one to knock around in. With the price of gas, 40 hp on a little racer is starting to look more interesting. Been looking to find a little Hobie Power Skiff 13 footer also.

A good freind of mine owns the shop. Customkamo.com. His name is Chris, They run like hell with a built 40 yammi on them. Everyone around here is putting built 90 yammis(some running gas also) on them now. Give Chris a call, he will help you out.

SC Fireman, I remember seeing your name in connection with a listing for a Viper at one time, and I think there was a video of a Viper doing some high speed runs in a river. Like to see that again. Also thanks for the info on Custom Kamo. Prob give Chris a call. Wow. 90hp on a Viper. Thought I was bad with 150hp on a 14 ft PowerCat.
