Quick question, I have a 1992 Evinrude 200hp XP outboard. I'm going to be disconnecting the oil line that goes to the VRO pump so I can just premix everything myself. I have a feeling I'm running really rich and that the VRO pump may be faulty. I've read on here that this is probably the best thing to do to make sure the mixture is acurate. Was curious on if I need to take the actually pump off or what I should do? Was thinking I'd just clamp the hose. Any input on this would be awesome. Also, I believe the fuel to oil mixture should be 50-1. Is this correct. Thanks again for the help guys.

I have just plugged them up and starting mixing and I like 45-50 to one under 6k for real hard running 40:1. Need to see some smoke. They used to make a plug that went over the oil tit. Rick

With a VRO pump, if you are running with too much oil, it usually means there is a fuel restriction somewhere.
To answer your question, just disconnect the line and cap off the fitting. If it is still there, there is a plug and rubber cap clipped to the oil line inside the cover for this purpose. if it isn't there, then a 6/16" rubber cap will do. Then disconnect the electrical connection on the pump to keep the alarm from sounding.
50:1 is the correct mixture.

Cut the hose, stick a bolt in it and clamp it off.
