What's the max safe RPM for a stock Merc. 1000? Looking for safe RPM for five to ten miniutes., not all day. Did a test run with the tach. hooked up and it reads 6200. Have a 19P prop, 14' mono hull @ about 350# for boat only.
I know I need more prop, and I have a two blade 23P that I want to try, but I like the hole shot and all around performance of the 19.
Edit: Have read other posts dealing with later modle 1500's that say about 6K is the max safe RPM. Would the same be true for a '65 1000?
