Trading out my 99 225 EFI for a 225 ProXS. Do Ihave to install a Smartcraft system or can I use my analog gauges? I have a system monitor that was installed new with the EFI that is the 3 light version I guess that monitors temp, oil and water in the fuel/water seperator. I have a tach, trim gauge , water psi gauge etc.. and would prefer to use them.

You can use all your old guages but you will run into some issues. All the new pro xs models I have rigged come setup for smartcraft guages. You will have to route the speedo(black) out of the cowling which is tucked away and can be tricky to find. Also the water pressure(grey) will be plugged into a sensor that will also have to be re- routed through the cowl. The trim guage will need a new sending unit because the one that comes with it is setup for smartcraft and wont work with your guage. This will also need to be calibrated. Also you will need special fittings to attach the speedo and water pressure and a heat gun to fit them together. I recommend using someone who has done this before or else you could end up with a lot of headaches.
In the process of rigging an xs200. Sounds similar. I added the smartcraft and left my other guages in there and they will all be funtional. I wanted the smartcraft cuz it does so much more. Tee the grey hose before the sensor for the water pressure. They make push tees and push to barb adapters. The black hose will plug into the lower unit speedo hose with the barb adapter unless you are running a sporty in which case you must mount a pickup to the hull. I know there is a special trim sender for the smartcraft but I know nothing about it. If you have the guages and the harness and you have room to mount them in the boat I would install them just for the extra info.

Just went from 2000 225 Pro Maxes to 2005 225 Pro Max X's. Since the 2005's are smartcraft ready I lost a way to hook up my analog temp gauges.
I'm thinking of going with smartcraft next season. It's driving me nuts not having a temp readout.
All the other gauges hooked up without a problem.
