200 Efi Verse Nicely Built 2.4. If You Could Chose Which And Why
The stock EFI motor will idle better, have a more bottom end, and will likely last longer than a modified 2.4 200 carb motor.

The stock EFI motor will idle better,
But I would have to argue tha other stuff!!.....
If ya want solid STOCK mota, then 2.5 200 iz it...But a well built 2.4 will kick mudholes in a stock 2.5 200!!!....
It'z all in what ya want....Performance, or STOCK ....efi or carbs....JMO

Like comparing chicken salad and chicken poop. The 2.5 is just that much stronger not to mention the tougher steel sleeves in the 2.5. On our dyno a 2.4 carb makes 207 at the crank in stock trim a 2.5 carb makes 218 in stock trim at the crankshaft. All on 89 octane fuel.

Couldn't you bump the compression on the 2.4 up to 145 & even up the HP??

The way I read the question iz he already haz a 220HP 2.4 with mods
2.4 Fingerport Aprox 220hp Verse 2.5efi 200
.......with the key here being "Nicely built"!!!!
IMO ther iz no compare'in a modified 2.4 to a stock 2.5 fish'in mota, even tho they iz 11ci differnce........U put a "Nicely Built" 2.4 and a stockie 200 2.5 on the same boat, and the 2.5 haz juss took a serious asswhoop'in!!...No brag, juss FACT...
Az haz been said before....200HP iz 200HP!!!......the larger the CI's the more torque!!!...The port configuration differnce between the 2 leeves the 2.4 at a disadvantage for higher rpm operation, BUT, if the 2.4 makes 200 HP, and the 2.5 makes 200HP, they iz purdy much equal in HP!!!
