I just took the shrinkwrap off my boat a few weeks ago and it was bone dry, but ever since i've had a tarp over it (yes its tented), theres been some water in the motor well and down by the drain plug. I checked the tarp for holes or splits, but there aren't any. I was considering just getting a giant sheet of shrink wrap, and using that without shrinking it, since it's waterproof. I also have one of those canvas covers that cover the boat and the motor, but it's not waterproof and needs to be cleaned, how do u clean and waterproof a canvas cover? I'm open to any ideas, experiences, or products that would help. Thanks.:)
-- And yes, i know its supposed to be inside, this is just until the garage gets cleaned out =)

The most important thing for a boat cover is breathability. A cover made from plastic like shrinkwrap will trap any moisture there happens to be in the boat and start mildew and fungus. Breathable boat cover from somwhere like Overton's.

bump, any suggestions, the overtons covers are pretty expensive, is there any way to waterproof the material cover (canvas?) that came with my vector?

If the cover is truly canvas then you could try what the "old folks" did.... cut up a bar of paraffin into a gallon of gas and let it set until the paraffin melts and blends with the gas. Mix well and brush the mixture on the canvas. Let dry in the sun. Repeat as necessary.

303Protectant has a fabric spray that will treat your cover.Take it to the laundromat and wash it in Woolite in the large commercial machine, then treat it with the 303FabricSpray.[available through Overton's]

I have a waterproof, breathable cover I got at Walmart for around 150 bucks. My old Walmart cover wasn't breatheable so I used to get mildew problems if I covered the boat wet. My new one works like a champ. You can also use scotchguard to waterproof your cover but that's not a permanent solution.
