this is on my 13' Whaler and not sure what it is. Seller said mid 80's 28 but it may be an older 25 and I can't find #'s on it anywhere.

I broke the cable connector for the shift cable where it mounts to the cowling.
This part looks to have been an accesory to convert the motor to remote control.
I have been all through the BRP parts break downs and can't find that style of mount.
It looks like it shows the mounting area in the cowling break down but no mount.
In the accesory break downs (remote adaptors) I can't find this style either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I Garyrigged it and works fine but just painted the motor and getting ready to sell for seed money for a 50 with t/t

Go to BRP parts and look up the 1988 Johnson 28 hp. Look up the cover and you will find everything you need.

Was listening to everyone else (and myself) thinking it was older and did not go past '80.

Very cool. So I have a newer motor than I thought and now know pt. #'s.

Thanks Keith!!!

I'm not saying that's what your motor is, I just happen to have a 1988 28 SPL and thats how the cable mounts on it so I looked there.

'70 - 80' and nothing. Then after your reply I checked before/after '88 and they only made the 28 in '88 and '89.
I'm a happy fellar :)

Post some pics of the engine. I think the later models had a plastic shifter and more plastic parts on the inside. You ever find the power pack?
