The wreck was Tim Seebold's 1991 crash into the trees. Pretty cool, about 45 minutes into the show.

Looked like he couldn't make the rest of the turn cause the nose was up.
You could hear him trying to work the throttle to get it back down, but to late.
Was that his motor that was hitting the rev limiter till he could kill the fire?
Glad he was ok and able to race again.

For the last question are you talking about the motor reving after he was stuck on the billboard? I think it was reving because he was pushing his foot on the throttle trying to climb up out of the cockpit.

I might be mistaken but I believe thats the reason they quit having races at cypress gardens. A friend of mine races and says that they are going to try to race there again this year. I used to go every year and it's a great hot boat gathering. when I hear something I will post it.

Cypress Gardens has been sold. I believe it will be shut down and am pretty sure there will not be any more races there for that reason.

tim walked away from that!!!!!!! no injuries!! wild looking crash though... roy Yep. Safety cells work.
I wonder if this is the accident that inspired him to invent the inverted boat kill switch. The story goes that in one crash he ended up upside down in the capsule and was a bit disoriented and was panicked that he could not find the stop switch to turn the motor off. He decided that an automatic switch set up to cut the motor off was necessary. He dreamed up what was needed and bought the materials ... not just for himself, but for everyone racing at that event.
The inverted boat safety switch is actually very simple ... a piece of plastic pipe with a regular toggle switch at the top (switch arm facing down to keep the switch on). When the boat goes upside down, a tennis ball in the pipe falls, hits the switch arm and switches the motor off. Brilliant in its simplicity.

Roll over switches were used in OPC racing for many years before this accident. They were required when safety cells were first introduced and used by many before that.

this is the crash where he ended up in the willow trees upsidedown. the camers guy lifted the boat up to get him out!!!!!!!!! the willow trees made his landing softer.
it was bad looking...
