This is to go under the flybridge dodger of my cruiser. Don't want to use up any more room under there I have to so I don't want another amp. Powered subs are getting uncommon for car audio!

How cheap and what size? I think boss makes a cheap one and pyle, all those but not the best quality. I have a cheap 8" tube I used on rental cars for years and never had an issue with it....but a stock stereo was about all it would keep up with. For a while I ran it in a car with a high power deck and it did ok. I had one of the mtx 10 ones for a bit but it would not fit in my truck like I wanted. Did try it in the car and it worked ok, certainly more power than the cheap old 8" one. They are flat with the passive radiator, just like the infinity ones. There are the bazookas of course and ones that they use on ski boats but I never used a powered one. You might grab an alpine mrp-m450 cheap on epay, they are quite small for 400rms (class d) if you want to try an amp and have a dry spot for it. Past that I see used come up on epay here and there, kenwood and RF sometimes.
