I Hade Read On The Internet That 2 Cycle Outboards Manufactured Before 1992 Will Not Run On Gas That Has Ethanol In It (not Even 10%). Is This True Or Is There Any Kind Of Additive You Can Add To It. I Have A 1986 Xr2 And You Cannot Get Gas In Birmingham Alabama Anymore That Does Not Have Ethanol In It.

New fuel lines and fuel pump kits have parts that are compatible with ethanol. If it's been maintained, it's probably good to go.

One problem with ethanol is that if you get any water in the fuel, it'll seperate, and sometimes form a sludge that can gum up the works and maybe make one or more cylinders run lean. A good (RACOR 60 GPH) fuel filter/water seperator compensates for that.

hope it helps

Even levels of 10% ethanol can cause lean burn issues in a strung out motor running high rpms. Careful if you are running it on the ragged edge.
