my 85 hi-po 2.4 will not charge the battery. i swapped out the rectifier after i tested it. It had no continuity through any post. Now i am still not getting a charge. if i purchase a stator will it have to fit a hi-perf flywheel?

No, all the small(9amp/16amp) stators will work wit the hipo flywheel.....

Check the yeller wires kumm'in out ov the stator to tha rectifier, they should sho 6volts each...if not, change out tha stator.....

The yellow stator wires develop voltage and current between them. Neither one is related to ground. Open circuit they will develop up to 100 volts or more AC between them.

If it ohm's out OK, it should work. Relatively low ohms between the wires, and wide open to ground.

If it's hooked up to a good rectifier, you'll read 16 - 20 volts AC or so between the yellow wires. If it's real high, either the rectifier is bad, or it's disconnected from the battery. If it's really low, the rectifier is bad, or not only is it disconnected from the battery, but it's shorted to ground.

hope it helps
John
