Git U a Barry Grant bypass regulator, and U kan run any pump U want!!...
I run a Bosch efi pump wit carbs, @ 3-1/2#s ...The efi pump don't deliver the GPH the Holley does, but takes a lil less juice to operate, and wit the pressure ov tha efi pump, U will never starve a set ov carbs for gas if it kan keep up wit a drag mota!!!....JMO

Is that too much without a regulator? Mine won't turn over 6700. When I bought the boat it was setup without the regulator. Motor is fresh. Thanks

my 245 has run for years over 8000 rpm on a holley red without a regulator but I am upping the RPM and switching to a bypass regulator like Rex is talking about to make sure there is no question on the fuel delivery side....

I don't run a regulator on my drag boat. I run a Mallory 4140 on it. You'll be fine with no regulator.

Hey Rex - I'm running a Holley Bypass regulator on my carb motor with a holley blue - you think it would work with an EFI pump too? That would make switching to and EFI powerhead a lot easier.

Good Q, I tried it with a efi pump and cheap regulator and it wouldnt work (regulator just locked up and wouldnt let any fuel flow). I got to lookin around for efi regulators and found them to be $$$$.

Joe's advice may be fine on OMC's but if you get over 6 PSI on a Merc you're most likely gonna' blow the needles off the seats. I wouldn't run ANY electric fuel pump on a Merc without a regulator for that reason. As long as sufficient volume is there, pressure isn't important. At sufficient volume gravity feed from a tank mounted on top of the powerhead would run it fine.;)

Norris has a valid point, and I always tend to think of what works on an OMC. My setup is different from most OMCs not to mention almost all of them Welfare motors. Listen to Raceman and T-Rex. They're both so ugly they can't help but give good advice:D:reddevil::D
Remember, it takes fuel to make power. An OMC can handle lots of fuel. A Merc can handle, well, gettin beat by an OMC:cheers::cheers:

U have 2 BG Bypass regulators...one iz low pressure and one for Hp(efi)....I have both, and when I hang a efi mota on(don't tell anybody I said that) I change to tha efi regulator, then go back to carbs by swapp'in tha regulators.....Swapp'in regulators make a easy, quik change when goin from carbs to efi and visa versa...
Tha LP regulatoer advertizes from 5#-30#s(I have mine set @ 3-1/2#s, but know for fact that sum won't go below 4#s)....
Az for tha holley bypas regulators, I'm not familiar wit, but they should operate like tha BG, I would thank!!

Yea, lissen to Me an Raceman...Even tho Raceman IZ FUGLY, he's still better look'n den Joe, and WAYYYYY smarter!!!

Yeah, the cheapo holley regulator is a problem - thats why I went with the Bypass version - much safer. Im just curious if, in anybodys experience, the holley bypass is on par with a barry grant or aeromotive ect. I need to rig a new ride soon, and it would be cool if I could run an EFI pump on both carb and EFI motors - we swap powerheads a lot.

In my experience the Holley regulator, ALL Holley regulators, are a POS. The best reg if you're going to swap like that is a Weldon.
