Seems crazy and almost unbelieveable, but i heard talk that an Australian waterskier went 132 mph behiend a twin turb' 21' sterndrive not long back during the bridgr to bridge 1 up race. Appreantly that was the reading on the tell tale gps after the race. Even more amazing is that this was during a ski race on a river and not a record attempt in ideal conditions. Into the bargin it was not our fastest boat down here. I have not named the boat or skier in case it is not true but it comes from a real good source and there have been plenty of high 120 mph passes down in Australia but 132 mph is right out there and nuts.... P,S, the boat is the one that Satin would have as a TOY if he left HELL and came to earth!

In 1989,Scott Pellaton, currently sales director of Sanger boats, went 135.74 MPH barefoot,no skis at all ,behind a Sanger,of course. Doubt anyone will ever touch that!

I remember a video of skiers drag racing behind blown hydros. This was in the 80s but even then blown hydros were over 200 mph.

Get,s better all the time. It was well into the race and he had already been averaging well over 110 mph and was about 60 miles into a 70 mile race. Crazy tough focused man!

most of the U.S. speeds were very short runs and yes I remember the guys behind drag boats but again only a 1/4 mile.
These guys do it for miles and miles. It's insane. I used to do it on a slalom behind one of my old boats and I could only handle 65 MPH for about 6 - 12 miles and I was in near perfect shape at that time.
These guys have to be some of the toughest athletes in the world!
The Catalina Island race is 60 miles and the record equates to just over a 60 MPH average! In the ocean though.

My source corrects me that it is actually 134 mph, not 132 . WOW. Can any other Aussie ski racers confirm this? It seems outrageous......

Last year at the IHBA race in Gadsden, Al, a chick was towed a little over a quarter mile by a blown flatbottom, on bare feet, and was clocked at 107 mph. I witnessed it with my own eyes. It was incredible!!!!!!!!

Spoke with another racer who tells a similiar story and claims the speed claim is for real he even thinks that it may be written up in "waterski racer" magazine. Anyone read this?

Does he have any skin on the bottom of his feet?
All kidding aside, at those speeds it seems like the pressure would be high enough to penatrate the skin, kinda like putting your hand in front of a pressure washer wand.

If that's true(and I'm not saying it's not) that was a bad ass boat, cause there is a lot of drag pulling a skier. That boat would have had to run at least 155-160 naked.

If I remember correctly, Scott Pellaton had some small booties on his feet and wraps on all his joints. It was truly an awesome feat. Several people have been severely injured and died from barefooting at speed. I'm 6'11 and 270 and I step out of a slolom ski at 47 MPH. For a second, I'm on one foot. When it goes good, all is well. When things go bad, the falls are pretty painful. My feet bruise and blister after about a quarter mile. Getting too old for it to be fun anymore!!

A barefoot fall 30 years ago broke my sternum and knocked me out. If it wouldn't have been for some quick action from my friends I would have drowned. I decided I was getting to old back then. My time barefooting has been limited since then.

I used to go to Long Beach Marine Stadium back in the day. Saw a guy go 110 mph on knee board!! Most of the drag skiers were pulled by blown alcohol hydros back then. Those were the days.
