I have a Ecu that the previous owner says is a A48 i cant make out the numbers is there a way to find out what it is maybe with a DDTand the right harness .I talked with this guy and he says it never twisted over 7600! i dont know maybe it was the way it was rigged any ideas or help? Maybe i need to have someone check it before i run it im rebuilding this 260 right and sure would hate for it to pop:eek: its already poped twice before:nonod::nonod:

i had the same issue. i had a box that was sold to me as an a48 but after it wouldn't turn over 7700 i thought i'd been taken. finally got it plugged up to a ddt and it was in fact an a48. the fuel was set real high which was "four stroking" the motor. a ddt should tell you what chip is in it

Bobby, it's easy to get the chip out, a pain to put back in...

I have several chips you can try. I have a Digatron EGT with probes that go into the 2 bottom bolts on the divider cover that you can use to "tune" that monster. I have 4 good pistons out of this last disaster if you have an interest. Top pinned 2 ring 3 starboard and 1 port. Good for 12,200 rpm, lol....

Bobby, the piston looks fine.
The sleeve will come out easy with a few whacks with a long rod or punch. Temp and time is all you need, and GLOVES, lol...

I hope your oven is in the shop, Momma might get pi$$ed when you stink up the house (been there, done that, luckily it was a rent house)

how in the world did i get here i used to only build lower units and do trick stuff on them some how i moved to this end of the spectrum where a very simple mistake can cost 5 grand instead of 5 hunnerd :iagree::iagree::thumbsup:thanks Tommy W.

i already have mig and stick welders in the shop so a tig is in order they are actually cheaper then the mig i bought but it does alum, stainless and steel it has dual guns .cnc yes the plant i do the operations for has 3 CNC machines so we are limited only to our own minds. as for the boring bar i watched both larry and dewayne do the holes and i think tommy or myself can do it if we dont run out of blocks before we get it figgerd out:eek:. i want to look at the piston you have
