I tried one on a standard Nordskog analog tach (Nordskog makes the recall for summit) and ironically it didn't work. The tach needs to have a certain kind of motor in it (I can't remember which), but it won't work with every gauge.
I just bought a Nordskog Digital recall tach instead. It was not much more money than a Gaffrig/Livorsi ($175 versus $149) and it works great. It also matched my Nordskog GPS Digital Speedo. If you need a recall tach, the Nordskog is the way to go if you ask me.

I think it needs to be a digital tach and not analog.
I put one on my Gaffrig tach and it works, but off and on.
I sometimes get a dead zero, and sometimes a pegged needle.
Then other times it works fine.
I think it may be a bad connection, or ground causing this, but so far, I'm not sure where to start looking.
The tach is brand new, so its not that.
Any ideas?

I installed one, and it worked for all of 2 minutes and blew up. Maybe it's not compatible with the output voltages of outboards?

Livorsi sells one for their tachs, for (I think) $125, (or $250?) but I bet it is the same one that you can get from Summit for $40 ?
The same depth finder I have on my boat, they sell for $100 more dollars, and only replace the face.

Have had one on my Skater for 3 years without problems. Livorsi makes 2 different tachs, one by autometer and the other by someone else. Works great with the Livorsi/AM tach
